June 3, 2015
Research Scientists:
- Plan the quality of the hand soap that meets the federal, and company's quality program, standards, and the public demands of Ewa Beach
- Determine how the 5 variables affect pH, latherability, scent, appearance, consistency, and cleaning ability of the initial soap recipe product
- Assist engineer to help find corrections of the soap
- Submit chemical and equipment purchase requisitions to the accounting department
- Organic materials
- Create procedures
- Generate data analysis
Engineers:
- Scaling up from initial recipe, plan the 1 pound quantity of hand soap that meets federal and the company's quality of hand soap that meets federal and the company's quality program standards, and public demands of Ewa Beach
- Do stoichiometry to figure our amounts of each reactant needed
- Design safe lab apparatus
- Design/select a soap mold
- Submit chemical and equipment purchase request orders to accounting department
Accounting:
- Prepare a budget statement for the business supervisors approval
- Research average weekly salaries for all positions in the company
- Determine expected expenses from the department managers
- Develop leger for debits and credits to the company
Marketing/Advertising/PR:
- Create a statistically significant hand soap survey
- Marker/price study on hand soap
- Determine the product name
- Determine the slogan
- Summarize the results of the survey
- Submit product name and slogan to company lawyer
May 29, 2015
Research Scientists:
- Perform the first experiment for the quality of the hand soap
- Summarize data and data analysis
- Determine if there are any observed faults in the recipe and correct it with the engineer department
- The experiments done today should be to test the first 2 variables and how they affect the pH, latherability, scent, appearance, consistency, and cleaning ability
- Perform experiments with the Research Scientists to guide and assist them for a better understanding
- Correct the problems that arise during a large-scale batch production run
- Communicate with science supervisor on the groups accomplishments and problems that occurred
- Create/Write down date and data analysis
Accounting:
- Finalize the expected expenses that include the lab operations, advertising, federal fines, and copying expenses
- Give initial budget statement to the business supervisor
- Finalize the purchase order requests form the science division for chemicals and equipment
Marketing/Advertising/PR:
- Gather all the data from the survey that assessed Ewa Beach's community family on their demands for shape, color, scent of hand soap
- Finalize the company's projected profit
- Create slogan and flyers for company
- Communicate with business supervisor and science division for their results on survey
June 1, 2015
Research Scientists:
- Perform third and fourth experiment
- The experiments done today should test the third and fourth variables and how it affects the pH, latherability, scent, appearance, consistency, and cleaning ability
- Discover any faults and consult with the engineer department for any corrections
- Summarize data and data analysis that has been done this day

Daily Plans
May 28, 2015
The first day the research scientists began the project and received their assigned jobs for the company. Research was also started for the 5 variables and how it would affect the process in making of the soap.
May 29, 2015
Finish researching the 5 variables and how it affects the soap. The 5 variables were the ratio of fat to hydroxide, comparison and contrast of NaOH and KOH, reaction temperature, color addition, and the scent addition and how it affects the soap. The essential oil that would be added to the soap was also determined as well as other ingredients that were needed that was not yet provided.
June 1, 2015
The first trial of the soap making has started. The initial procedures was used to make the soap. No scent or any color added to the mixture. The recipe used was the basic recipe of soap. It was then left overnight to harden.
June 2, 2015
A second trial, as well as the third and fourth is done since the product of the first trial did not come out the way that it was supposed to. The soap did not harden and there was too much oil that was on the top. Too much fat was added to the first trial, so for the second trial less fat was added and the scent and food coloring was also added as well. The amount of fat added to the mixture was cut back, and more of the lye and water mixture was added so that the final product would not come out too oily.
